Empowering Communities Through Mental Wellness

Havillan Mindcare is a mental health organization based in Meru, Kenya, providing therapy, addiction recovery, mental health training, and outreach across the Mt. Kenya region and nationwide.

Our team of licensed professionals and trained peer mentors offers culturally sensitive, evidence-based care. Through paid corporate programs, we fund free counseling and training for underserved communities across Kenya.

Our Programs

We run targeted programs that raise awareness, offer youth mentorship, and provide certified mental health training. From free community camps to donor-supported outreach, our initiatives are designed to support individuals and strengthen mental wellness across all ages.

Our Mental Health Awareness Camps bring free mental health services directly to schools, markets, and churches across Meru. These outreach events provide psychological screenings, stress management talks, and education to reduce stigma. Conducted by trained professionals, the camps help community members identify issues like depression, anxiety, and substance use. Participants receive guidance, referrals, and follow-up support when needed. The camps also include interactive sessions and educational materials tailored for local audiences. By partnering with community leaders and institutions, we ensure trust and participation. Over 800 individuals were reached in 2024 alone. These camps play a key role in increasing access to care and encouraging open conversations around mental health in underserved communities.

The Youth Peer Mentorship Program empowers young people aged 15–24 through weekly support groups and leadership development. These sessions offer a safe space to discuss emotional challenges, build confidence, and foster peer support. Participants learn practical coping skills and develop communication and leadership abilities that they can apply in their communities. Many go on to become certified peer mentors through our formal 6-week training. The program is especially effective in schools and youth centers, where it helps reduce stigma and promote mental wellness among peers. By providing relatable, youth-led support, we’re helping the next generation take charge of their emotional well-being and advocate for others.

Our Donor-Funded Outreach program ensures that vulnerable individuals can access therapy regardless of financial status. With just KSh 1,000, donors can sponsor a full counseling session for someone in need. This initiative primarily supports low-income clients, trauma survivors, and at-risk youth. Licensed professionals provide the care, and follow-up support is offered when necessary. Donors receive updates on their impact while client privacy is strictly maintained. Beyond therapy, contributions help fund community awareness events, transportation for rural clients, and free resources. This program connects compassion with action—giving individuals a chance to heal and empowering communities to access quality mental health support they might otherwise lack.

Our Training Programs build community capacity by equipping individuals and organizations with essential mental health skills. We offer Mental Health First Aid (3-day) and Peer Mentor Certification (6-week) courses, as well as custom corporate trainings in stress management and wellness. Designed using WHO, APA, and NACADA-approved models, these sessions are practical, engaging, and suitable for schools, churches, and workplaces. Participants learn how to recognize mental health challenges, offer initial support, and connect individuals with professional help. Graduates receive certifications and join a growing network of local mental health champions. These programs help create a more informed, supportive, and resilient society.
